Edible WA insects will be creeping on to menu

Consumers can now crunch their protein through locally grown crickets from WA’s first edible insect farm, which has just taken its first batch of products to market.

GrubsUp, still at the start up stage, was founded by Paula Pownall from her Coolup home last year, after two years of researching the potential of insect production for human and animal feed.

Two months ago the WA Health Department gave GrubsUp the go-ahead to sell its product for human consumption.
